I have spent the last 4 weeks working on my animal photography, it has been so much fun. I've been able to play with both horses and dogs and learn new techniques that will allow me to take more creative and beautiful photos for my clients! Playing with horses, dogs and puppies have all proven to have their own challenges but pay off equally at the end. Living in the Okanagan has made it much easier to take photos since we don't have to work around the rain all the time. Its so nice to be able to just grab my camera and away I go. Im looking forward to some upcoming events and hope you'll all stay tuned for some previews. Above is a photo of Aussie one of the dogs I was camping with just recently. It was a perfect time to get out the camera while we were sitting around the campfire one afternoon. Aussie black and white face made for a unique photo that I just love! Please contact me if you would like some photos taken!

The beginning of the 2012 season took off with a bang! I was busy photographing some of my best friends! We finished the the 2011 season off with a few very fun photo shoots especially one of my first maternity shoots in the okanagan, taking advantage of our snowy backdrop and beautiful landscape! Now during the beginning of this year I completed another maternity shoot and a brand new baby! Congrats again to Matt Sulich and Melissa Ward on their new baby Alexa! Some of my best friends have been expanding their families but with new four legged babies as well, so we took the opportunity to get some photos of them and their new pups! Brian and Kalsie welcomed Sophie their new chocolate lab puppy on Christmas Eve, and Travis and Lyss have welcomed two new members Lilly and Sydney! I am looking so forward to the upcoming season and what it will bring! Graduating from University myself I am looking forward to spending more time with my camera! Don't forget book now until May 31, 2012 and get 30% off a graduation shoot and capture those memories of your big day!
What started off as a sad weekend, ended beautifully. The rainy weather was in full force this weekend and everyone was feeling rather down. I had this photo shoot booked witha family and knew it would be a great way to bring a smile back! The Vandeleur family has to be one of the most beautiful families I've photographed. Marie and her Husband Andrew along with their sons Ben and Mitchell brought smiles all around. The boys loved playing in the puddles that scattered around the wharf while mom and dad got some photos taken and then it was there turn to smile and giggle. The sun came out for us and made for some great pictures, we even took some of their exchange student that was preparing to go home, allowing them to keep her photo as a memory of her stay. It was such a great end to the weekend, I couldn't have asked for a better day.
So much fun can be had in this fallen snow! Kelowna has received it's first big snowfall of 2011, and that makes for some beautiful pictures. Why not grab the family and have a snowball fight and enjoy what mother nature has given us! Winter is my absolute favourite time of year, the snow is so beautiful it just makes me want to bring my camera and start shooting! Now is a great time to get some photos done so you can create christmas cards for the holiday season, so book now! Contact me via the website page or at mdobsonis@gmail.com, I look forward to working with all of you!
Like always when I walked into Costco 2 weeks ago...before Halloween the store was full of Christmas stuff! It was a sharp reminder that Christmas is around the corner. Before you know it it will be december and some lucky communities have already received their first snow! The snow offers an amazing backdrop for some beautiful photos. These photos can be used for so many wonderful things like Christmas cards, photo books as gifts, or a canvas prints for Christmas. It is a great time of year to get your family, friends and loved ones together and capture some wonderful memories. I love the holidays it is one of my favorite times of the year. I know I will be making photo gifts for all my loved ones, its a great gift that keeps on giving!
xox Hello Everyone,
So first I would like to apologize for being MIA for the last month. I started my fall semester at school and have been madly working on many different projects. I have not forgotten about my photography and have been also spending time on enhancing my skills. I also started my own campaign called Make Em Smile, you can find it on Facebook! I am excited that fall is here...I know many of you will think I'm crazy but I love the beautiful colours of fall and getting all bundled up and it means my favourite season is even closer, Winter! I am heading back to Kelowna on Oct 8-10 and will be booking appointments so please don't hesitate to contact me to book a session! Hope to see all of you soon!! Marisa Today was an exciting day, I got to spend some time with an old friend of mine today, Josh Wack. Josh contacted me a few days ago interested in getting some photos taken of his new girlfriend Amellisha and her beautiful baby girl Keedyn. I was nervous because I had never met Amellisha before, but also I had never really done a children shoot before. Well it couldn't have gone better, we got some great pictures. Keedyn gave us amazing smiles when she heard the word SUCKER! We took some photos in a park near Josh's house and then moved to Bankhead School to play with the railroad tracks. All in all it was a very fun day, and I truly enjoyed meeting Amell
Today I had a fun shoot with Clea Sackville from Ohara Equestrian Center. When I arrived at the barn it was already 25 degrees out, so we were both ready to get out, take some photos and get back so we wouldn't have to be in the sun to long. Right off the bat we headed through the riding club and into the back of Mission Creek Farms. We got some beautiful shots of Clea and Phoenix in the big meadow and then moved over towards Mission Creek. The mosquito's were awful, but we braved them for some awesome shots! I truly enjoyed working with Clea and her big chestnut because Phoenix reminds me so much of my old horse Beamer whom I miss everyday! Looking forward to getting some jumping shots tomorrow during Clea's lesson. So check back for more photos tomorrow afternoon!
Marisa What an incredible day! I worked with Kate Mincey, one of my oldest friends, who is like a sister to me. We planned a day of photos scheduled around her boyfriend who unfortunately had worked until the wee hours of the morning. Since he was so tired, we started with photos of Kate and her very first horse, Honey. The wonderful part about photographing Honey is that she was the first horse I rode when I started riding with Kate's mom, Tracey Avery. Her golden Palomino colour was outstanding against the beautiful hay field background. The photos of Kate and Honey turned out even better than I could have ever hoped. Next, we moved over to a pond near Kate's house where Dude, another horse was hanging out. We took some photos by the pond and under some willow trees to get a feel of the area. Ryan met us there with their new German Shepherd Rottweiler Cross puppy, Sika. We continued to play near the pond in Dude's paddock before taking a very tired Sika back to the house to play in the field. After an amazing shoot of Kate and Ryan in the front field of her house, we let Ryan enjoy some photos with his new motorcycle. The day was amazing - it was so much fun to spend time with Kate and Ryan capturing some very funny moments and having a couple laughs.
Love you Miss Kate! Thanks again, Ryan, for waking up to have some fun with us! Marisa |
